Reigning premiers, the Södermalm Blues, outclassed an undermanned Bromma Vikings by 90 points at the JCG today. In a one-sided contest, the Blues banged on six goals in the opening term to let by six goals at the first break and never looked back.

With in-form Rob Njoku playing a starring role up forward and Dylan O’Keefe and Mick Larsson running rampant through the middle of the ground, the Blues were dominant and were it not for inaccurate kicking (Chris Tancredi, the main culprit with 1 goal 5 behinds) could have buried the Vikings much earlier. And if the day wasn’t tough enough for Bromma, inspirational captain Jason Delos left the ground with suspected broken ribs and was taken by ambulance to hospital for X-rays. But Bromma battled the match out and had some good patches in the second half, with Matt Kibbis going close to best on ground in a superb solo effort for the Vikings. The match was notable, too for the debut of 13 year old Oliver Gillard, who came on after half-time after Delos’ injury. Young Gillard got several possessions and did his Dad proud!
